Clavister Enters Naval Domain through 8 MSEK Contract with Major Nordic Defence Company

19 December 2024 – Örnsköldsvik, Sweden – Clavister, a leader in European cybersecurity for mission-critical applications, announced today that it has been approved as supplier to a major Nordic defence company, with a first contract for naval applications worth 8 MSEK.

Clavister has been appointed as an approved provider of cybersecurity to a major Nordic defence company. The engagement is initiated through an 8 MSEK contract, whereby Clavister will deliver cybersecurity technology and competence to applications within the naval domain. Deliveries will commence in the first half of 2025.

The appointment and contract mark an important milestone in the expansion of Clavister’s tactical security business. The Clavister CyberArmour product family, which has seen several recent successful deployments in land-based applications, for instance with the BAE Systems’ CV90 infantry fighting vehicle, is now entering the naval domain as well.

In modern naval operations, success depends on the availability and integrity of numerous interconnected systems – ranging from location tracking and cryptography to telecommunications, combat systems, automation, and command and control.

Moreover, the military’s Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems, essential for naval operations, face unique challenges. These include limited bandwidth and speeds, asymmetric connections, isolation, lack of on-board expertise, and the diverse and aging range of naval platforms and technologies.

Cyberattacks or cybersecurity incidents can occur at various levels, from subsystems and individual systems to entire ships or even collaborative networks.

In this multi-year project Clavister will be leveraging its deep knowledge of cybersecurity, technology and experience of military deployments. Today, detecting and responding to cyber threats in a timely manner is not only critical for operational efficiency but also vital to ensuring resilience at sea.

John Vestberg, CEO of Clavister: “We are honoured to be appointed as cybersecurity vendor to this renowned Nordic defence company. Entering into the naval domain with our tactical security solutions is an important step for us on our mission to cyber-secure Europe”.
